Blending is well done.
It looks like he is surrounded with clouds and the smudging is nicely done.
I don't know if the original render is blue, but you gave the signature an "icey" look, nice

Could you post or send me the render you used, so I can compare it with the outcome?
Also.. Did you follow the "Jump!" tutorial, since you said: "followed the new guide"?

I started off with smudging with a little help of that tutorial,also the idea for colors were chosen thanks to tut.

My idea of this signature:Breaking point,struggling to 'climb' up the mountain while in great pain.
Escaping the city behind him.
