First:I think that colors should transfer the flow a bit more,but decent. :)

second:looks unfinished but I like the way you used atomic boom on the background,good job. :)

The first one is a bit chaotic, but since it is pretty large, it could be a fun background though ;)

For the second one; Although the stock (background) might not be the best to work with (with this render), try to blend it in a little bit; Use a soft (small) brush to erase the edges of the render.
Another thing you could do is add one or more gradient maps, this could help you, by blending all layers (more) together.

Anyway.. Keep practicing ;)

You should try to resize the background of the first picture and/or remove the background.. and leave only the brushes.

The first one I just followed a tutorial and it ended up as my desktop background, and for the second one, I entered it in a contest.. Lost unfortunately but it was worth a try :P
